If you’ve been having a hard time finding work, you’re not alone.

Many people are in the same boat, which is why Achēv’s free employment service helps connect residents such as Rajan, to meaningful jobs. Rajan arrived in Canada from Nepal with seven years of experience in investment banking, finance and asset management.

After searching unsuccessfully for full-time work for eight months, he was referred by Achēv’s Newcomer Information Centre in Mississauga and met with one of their Career Specialists. The Career Specialist offered him one-to-one support and guidance regarding his resume, cover letters, job search strategies, and networking and interview skills.

With Achēv’s help, Rajan began attending a variety of networking groups, workshops, and guest speaker events, all of which helped him present himself with both confidence and knowledge of the Canadian labour market. A few months later, Rajan was interviewed by one of Canada’s largest banks for an Investment Specialist position and was offered a full-time role, which he gladly accepted.

“It was a privilege working with my Career Specialist at Achēv. Through her constant guidance, support and advice, I landed a job in my field,” Rajan said. “From her help on resume edits to invites to Achēv webinars, I was able to learn and grow as a professional.”

Achēv has 6 locations across the GTA to provide you with free and personalized job search assistance and career counselling and has helped over 25,000 people including Darshana to access services such as employment preparation workshops, career coaching, placement services and more.  Darshana was laid off from a 9-year Accounting Administrator job amidst the COVID-19 pandemic and had trouble finding work despite having more than a decade of corporate experience.

An Achēv Career Specialist started assisting Darshana and recommended workshops/webinars on how to write a noticeable resume, ace a job interview, and other job search strategies.

Darshana also signed up for upcoming hiring events at Achēv, and after a lot of hard work and networking, eventually landed an Account Receivable Associate role at a healthcare company.

“I really appreciate all your help on my job search journey. I learned a lot from your webinars and workshops,” said Darshana in an email to Achēv. “I am so impressed with all Achēv programs, and I definitely would like to do volunteering in the future if time permits.”

Achēv always ensures that they take a customized approach to help each client’s unique needs and situations. Krishnaveni was a newcomer from India who came to Canada with an Information Technology (IT) background and a long career gap. After learning about Achēv and their services, Krishnaveni’s first thought was to reach out and receive resume review help and was connected with Achēv’s Career Specialists.

“I got to know about the job fairs going on in Achēv. I applied for a fair and they selected me to attend. There I shared my resume with an Employer Liaison from Achēv,” said Krishnaveni.

Achēv’s Employer Liaison shared the resume with a hiring IT company. The employer set an interview meeting and after a round of interviews, Krishnaveni was selected as Junior QA Engineer for the company.

“All this happened in my new country with the help of Achēv, and also my special thanks to Achēv’s Career Specialists and Employer Liaisons, who were with me in the entire job search and helped me to achieve my career dream.”
