Halton municipalities Milton, Burlington, Oakville and Halton Hills are among the worst places in the GTA to sell a home right now.

According to online real estate experts Zoocasa, in December the average time a house sat on the market in the GTA was 40 days. And even that is much longer than the pandemic-fuelled buying spree that often saw houses flip in hours or a few days.

The average wait time in Halton, however was above the average. In Milton, homes sat for an average of 47 days. In Burlington it was 46 days, and 43 days in both Oakville and Halton Hills.

The only longer waits in the GTA were the rural communities of Caledon and Orangeville as well as Vaughan.

“Overall, it’s become increasingly difficult for sellers and potential buyers to navigate the shifting landscape of real estate markets across Ontario,” said a spokesperson for Zoocasa.

“However, the good news for sellers is that there are still some in demand markets where homes are moving more quickly.”

Most forecasts have housing prices continuing to drop in 2023.
