Aylmer Police detectives are appealing to Region of Peel (Mississauga, Brampton and Caledon) residents for information regarding an ongoing arson investigation.

Aylmer police are investigating an alleged arson that occurred at a newly built home on Aspen Parkway in the town on March 24 at approximately 2:30 am. Police believe the suspects reside in Peel or the GTA and that one person might have sustained significant injuries.

The home, which was complete but vacant, was destroyed.

The damage is estimated at $1.1 million.

Police say the suspects fled the area in a motor vehicle, driving eastbound from the Aylmer area.

According to police, smouldering, discarded clothing was located close to the burning structure. Other evidence was also located and seized. Police, along with the Ontario Fire Marshall and the Ontario Provincial Police Forensic Identification Unit, examined the scene and believe the fire was started with a large amount of gasoline.
