The Helson Gallery recently announced that it will be extending its hours to increase public accessibility to art exhibitions.

The gallery, located at 9 Church St. in Georgetown, will now be open an additional 10 hours on Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday mornings.

An annual exhibition, called Locally Grown, recently opened on Sept. 14 and features local artists living and working in Halton Hills.

The exhibition, which will run until Oct. 23, showcases artist creativity from over the past two years and features more than fifty works, some of which are available for purchase.

Additionally, the Sisnett Lobby features a display of the Halton Hills Plein Air Painters which consists of Monica Burnside, Carol Hughes, Sheila Mitchell, Beatrice Roche, Rose Scully and Susan Ying. This group meets every week from spring to late fall to paint in a park in the area of Halton Hills. This exhibition will feature those paintings, which will also be for sale.

“Artists and creatives of all types help make our community vibrant and the Helson Gallery and Sisnett Lobby are excellent venues for them to showcase and sell their work,” said Mayor Rick Bonnette.

“I’m very pleased that the extended hours allow residents and visitors even more opportunity to enjoy our local exhibitions.”

The Helson Gallery is open Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Fridays and Sundays from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
