A new hotel is proposed for an area near the Ridgeway Plaza in Mississauga.
The plaza is known for its extensive food options, while at the same time, residents have complained about large gatherings, stunt driving and parking issues.
The City of Mississauga has been working with the group that manages the plaza to resolve the issues.
Now, an area next to the plaza may soon get a new hotel.
A sign stating that a Hilton Garden Inn is “coming soon” has gone up in a grassy area opposite the plaza.

A post on Reddit shows the sign announcing the new hotel.
There are few details about the proposal publicly available, but a City of Mississauga spokesperson confirmed that there is an application for a hotel.
The city has received an application for a proposed hotel at 3645 Platinum Dr., on the north side of Platinum Drive where it connects with Odyssey Drive, the spokesperson told INsauga.com.
The proposal has not yet received final approval.
In late 2020, there was an application for a minor variance to allow the construction of the hotel with 143 parking spaces and an outdoor patio.
But the city spokesperson said staff is awaiting a final resubmission from the developer to address outstanding technical matters before a final decision can be made.
Once all technical requirements have been addressed and city staff is satisfied the proposal meets applicable requirements, a final decision will be made.
If approved, the hotel is intended to operate independently from Ridgeway Plaza, with its own parking supply and site access, the spokesperson said.
