Summer has arrived in Mississauga and Brampton and so have the scorching temperatures that come with all that beautiful sunshine.

A special weather statement from Environment Canada has been issued for Mississauga and Brampton warning of hot and humid conditions on Friday.

Local residents may want to keep near areas with shade or have a cool drink nearby with maximum temperatures expected to be near 31 degrees Celsius on Friday and then followed by an overnight minimum temperature near 20 degrees Celsius.

Slightly cool temperatures are expected for Saturday.

Those conditions provide little relief from the heat and pose a health risk when you are not used to those scorching temperatures.

The severe heat is a risk to everyone, especially older adults, infants, young children and people with chronic illnesses.

Residents are advised to drink plenty of cool liquids before feeling thirsty, keep cool by dressing lightly and spending a few hours in a cool place.

To report severe weather, send an email to [email protected] or tweet reports using #ONStorm.
