Homes evacuated for overnight garage fire in Mississauga

Homes were evacuated after a large garage fire broke out overnight in Mississauga.

Emergency crews were called to the fire at the rear of a home on Michaud Avenue, near Derry Road and Goreway Drive in Malton at around 1:40 p.m., Peel Regional Police said.

Adjacent homes were evacuated, police said.

No injuries were reported.

By 3:30 a.m., residents were allowed back into their homes, police added.

Police said the scene remains under investigation to determine the cause of the fire.
