Durham Home Energy Expo

If making your home more energy efficient and saving a few bucks in the process is your jam, Durham Region’s free Home Energy and Electric Vehicle Expo might be just what you’re looking for.

The expo, hosted by the region at Durham headquarters on Rossland Road in Whitby on Saturday, May 2, will offer a clear “fact-based” look at electrification, covering heat pumps, home retrofits, solar options and more.

The event, which will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., will also help residents learn more about available rebates, grants and incentive programs.

The expo is designed to help residents understand how to participate in the energy transition and save on household costs by shifting to electricity‑powered homes and transportation, said Durham Region Chair John Henry.

“Events like the Home Energy and EV Expo give our community a chance to learn from one another and see what a more sustainable future can look like right here in Durham Region,” he said. “By coming together to share practical information and real‑life experiences, we can help ensure all residents feel confident taking steps that save money, reduce emissions and strengthen our community for generations to come.”

Attendees will have the chance to connect with contractors, home energy advisors, solar installers and EV experts, hear first-hand from homeowners about costs, challenges and benefits, and get behind the wheel with EV test drives.

“This community-focused expo is about meeting residents where they are and showing how everyday choices can move Durham Region toward a cleaner, more resilient future,” said Ian McVey, the region’s Environment & Climate Director. “By bringing experts, technology and practical guidance together in one place, we’re helping people understand their options and take informed steps that support their homes, their budgets and their community.”
