A home destroyed in a fire in Brampton had recently sold.

A fire tore through a home on Chalmers Court, near Kennedy Road and Conservation Drive early Thursday (Dec. 21) morning.

Brampton Fire and Emergency Services battled the blaze for several hours.

Fortunately, there were no injuries reported. Four people, reportedly tenants living in the basement, left the home to call 911 when they smelled smoke.

Photos and video from the scene showed flames consuming the home and later the house collapsed.

The five-bedroom home sold for nearly $1.7 million on Sept. 19, according to the listing on Zoocasa.

It had been listed previously and sold for $2.2 million in February 2022.

Reportedly, the new owners were slated to move in today (Dec. 22).

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
