Holiday season time gift cards used in frauds in Oakville, Burlington, Milton, Halton Hills

‘Tis the season for gift giving. Unfortunately it’s also the time of year incidents of fraud rise in Oakville, Burlington, Milton and Halton Hills.

Halton Regional Police say they are seeing an increase in the use of gift cards being used as payment for frauds.

“Don’t use a gift card as a method of payment,” Halton police tweeted out recently as a reminder.

Residents are also being reminded to keep a close eye for any suspicious activity.
