Hockey Night in Brampton returns after 'landmark' $56.7M hospital charity fundraiser

The date has been set for the fifth-annual Hockey Night in Brampton charity game after a “landmark” year with $56.7 million in donations for the city’s second hospital.

The event founded by Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown has drawn former NHL players and Olympic Gold medalists to the city to raise funds for the upgrade of the Peel Memorial Centre for Integrated Health and Wellness into Brampton’s second hospital, including a new emergency department, expanded outpatient services, and increased capacity to serve a growing population.

Last year’s game raised $6.7 million and saw a historic $50-million pledge from the Cortellucci family, and the city says the 2026 game will build on that momentum.

No player announcements have been made yet, but past games featured Toronto Maple Leafs captain Auston Matthews, Mitch Marner, Curtis Joseph, Mark Giordano, and coaches Darryl Sittler and Wendel Clark.

“Hockey Night in Brampton continues to grow each year, rallying our community through a shared love of hockey while advancing a cause that impacts every resident,” Mayor Brown said in a release. “After last year’s incredible success, we look forward to welcoming fans back to the CAA Centre for another unforgettable night supporting Brampton’s second hospital.”

The fifth-annual Hockey Night in Brampton charity hockey game is set for Aug. 19 at the CAA Centre. For more information, visit www.hockeynightbrampton.ca.
