Hit-and-run crash leads to arrest of Toronto man with loaded handgun in Brampton: police

Charges have been laid against a man from Toronto following a hit-and-run crash in Brampton that police say led to the recovery of a loaded handgun and a stolen vehicle.
Peel Regional Police say officers were called to the scene of a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Steeles Avenue East and Torbram Road in Brampton on Sunday just before 5:15 a.m.
The male driver of one of the vehicles took off on foot following the crash but police say officers managed to track the man who was arrested a short distance away from the scene.
When police caught up to the 25-year-old man he had a loaded 40-calibre Glock handgun, and police also discovered the vehicle had been previously reported stolen.
Peel Regional Police have charged 25-year-old Adrian Kyle Persad-Orr of Toronto with multiple offences including unauthorized possession of firearm, possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm, operation while impaired and failure to stop after accident.
