Canada’s iconic lottery game, Lotto 6/49, is set to make history with its draw this week.

On Wednesday (Sept. 27) for the very first time, the draw will feature a guaranteed Gold Ball winner who will walk away with an unprecedented jackpot prize of $68 million.

According to the OLG (Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation), since the enhancement of Lotto 6/49 in September (2022), the jackpot has never before reached this staggering amount.

With only one ball left for Wednesday’s draw – the Gold Ball – the jackpot is assured to find its new multi-millionaire.

The OLG reports, the largest-ever Lotto 6/49 win to date was $64 million, claimed by a ticket holder in New Brunswick in April 2023 and in 2015, another $64 million was won by a resident of Mississauga.

In the most recent draw, on June 14, 2023 a Gold Ball jackpot was awarded to a lucky ticket holder in Niagara Falls, with the jackpot totalling $42 million.
