A stretch of the Fort Erie-bound Queen Elizabeth Way (QEW) highway was closed late on Tuesday afternoon (Aug. 3) after a multi-vehicle collision.

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) says that a minivan that was carrying six people was “slowing in traffic” when it was rear-ended by another vehicle at near Victoria Avenue in Jordan.

All lanes reopened around 7:45 p.m.

One person in the minivan was taken to a trauma centre with life-threatening injuries. The other five were taken to an area hospital.

The Toronto-bound (westbound) lanes are not affected.

The Ontario Ministry of Transportation reported on Twitter that the QEW was closed between Victoria Avenue and Jordan Road. The on-ramp at Ontario Street in Beamsville is also closed.
