UPDATE: All lanes reopened around 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

A 14-kilometres stretch of highway between Hamilton and Brantford was closed during Tuesday afternoon drive-time.

The Ontario Provincial Police says all westbound lanes on Highway 403 between the two cities have been closed as a result of a collision. The closure is between Hwy. 52 (Trinity Road) at median marker 55, and Garden Ave. (Brant Cty. Rd. 18) at median marker 41.

The lanes ended up being closed for close to 90 minutes. All lanes were reopened around 6:30 p.m.

Crashes where there are serious or critical injuries can often entail closures for several hours, especially if collision reconstruction investigators are called upon to help determine the chain of events that led to the crash.
