HIGHWAY CLOSURE: Fiery crash shuts down lanes on QEW in Ontario

A tractor-trailer fire shut down the QEW in Hamilton on Thursday morning.

The truck was in the Fort Erie-bound lanes of the highway near Nikola Tesla Boulevard, past the Skyway Bridge, when the fire started on Thursday morning, the Ontario Provincial Police said on X.

Video shows the fully engulfed tractor-trailer on the highway as fire crews work to extinguish the blaze.

There were no injuries reported.

As of 7 a.m., all Fort Erie-bound lanes were blocked, police said.

Police asked drivers to plan alternate routes.

Update: 8:20 a.m, two lanes re-opened, but extensive cleanup is required to remove the truck. Police said drivers should expect lane closures through the area for most of the day.
