UPDATE: Police say the highway reopened to westbound traffic around 6 p.m. and the eastbound to southbound exit has also reopened. Highway 58 eastbound remains closed to through traffic at Davis Road.

Police have closed the eastbound lanes of an Ontario highway following a crash between a pickup truck and a motorcycle near Niagara Falls.

The OPP said around 4:15 p.m. on Thursday that part of Highway 58 in Thorold has been closed following a two-vehicle collision.

A motorcycle and a pickup truck were involved in the crash, and police say an Ornge air ambulance has been dispatched to the scene.

Police say the eastbound lanes of the highway have been closed at Pine Street and Thorold Stone Road, and drivers can expect “an extended closure due to the seriousness of the injuries.”

Drivers should avoid the area and find alternate routes if possible.
