Highway closed after vehicle hits guardrail in Brampton

Peel Police are investigating a collision in Brampton this morning (April 26).

At around 6:00 a.m., police were called to the area of Highway 50 and Steeles Avenue East after receiving reports of a single-vehicle crash.

Police say the vehicle hit a guardrail and was flipped over.

Police also say the driver fled on foot and the extent of injuries are currently unknown.

Highway 50 has been shut down in that area as police continue to investigate.

Police are asking drivers to use alternate routes.

 

UPDATE:

Police say an adult male driver has been located and is in custody. No injuries have been reported and the roadway will remain closed until the vehicle has been removed from the ditch.
