Eastbound and westbound traffic on Highway 403 in Hamilton was blocked on Monday night due to a collision.
Motorists were advised to avoid the area around Main Street East, which is accessed by a ramp from the eastbound 403. There were unconfirmed reports that the collision involved a driver striking an Ontario Provincial Police cruiser, leading to a rollover.
The Ontario Ministry of Transportation said all lanes of the westbound 403 were closed at Main Street. The westbound 403 was detoured through central Hamilton, using York Boulevard, Dundurn Street and Aberdeen Street to avoid the affected area and continue along the highway.
The left lane and shoulder on the eastbound side of the highway were closed.
