High-speed stop leads to weapons charges for 2 youths in stolen truck from Brampton

Stopping a high-speed pickup truck stolen in Brampton has led police to charge two teens with weapons and property crime offences.

The traffic stop happened in the early morning hours on Tuesday when the OPP says officers spotted a black pickup truck travelling at a high rate of speed in Quinte West

Police checked the licence plate and said the truck had been reported stolen in Brampton.

Investigators stopped the truck and found two youths inside along with a replica Glock 9mm handgun and a key fob with a blank backup key.

Two youths were arrested and charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, carrying concealed weapon, possession of weapon for a dangerous purpose and possessing automobile master key.

Police said the driver of the pickup was also charged with speeding and driving a motor vehicle without a licence.

The accused are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville at a later date.
