Typically, the sight of police at a high school first thing Monday morning wouldn’t exactly put students’ minds at ease. It means something has gone wrong.

However, when students at Centennial Secondary School arrived this morning (November 1) and saw the Niagara Police presence on their campus, it is meant to reassure them that their school is safe.

School principal Tammy Zonneveld told one media outlet on Friday (October 29) that the school had received a threat through social media and that the police had been alerted.

Police were already at the school on Friday in the late afternoon investigating the matter and by 6:30 that evening, they assured the school the threat had been resolved.

Their appearance this morning was simply to put the students’ minds at ease.
