Police in Halton Region have arrested three men and laid multiple charges following an early-morning auto-theft investigation in Oakville.
On Feb. 1 at approximately 2:30 a.m., officers were on patrol in Oakville when they spotted a blue Ford F150 and a white Lincoln Aviator parked in a commercial driveway near Third Line and Wyecroft Road. As the officers approached the vehicles, three suspects got into the Lincoln Aviator and sped off on the QEW.
About 15 minutes later, the Lincoln was seen at the Ford Motor Plant, where the suspects were attempting to steal a black Ford Expedition.
Three men were quickly taken into custody without incident.
As a result of the investigation, three people, Ahmed Shkais, 30 and two teenagers were charged with theft of a motor vehicle, possessing break-in instruments and several other crimes.
Both Shkais and the 16-year-old youth were out on forms of release for similar offences at the time of their arrests.
All have been held in custody pending their respective bail hearings in Milton.
A follow-up investigation determined the Lincoln Aviator was stolen from Peel Region. The Ford F150 was stolen from the Burlington Hampton Inn and Suites just prior to being spotted by patrol officers.
