The Beer Store recently said that it will be opening two new locations in Toronto.
The announcement marks a reversal of a trend of Beer Store closures that have happened throughout Ontario amid the province’s expanded alcohol marketplace.
“This is great news for consumers in Toronto looking for easy and convenient locations to return empty alcohol containers for a deposit refund,” said Ozzie Ahmed, the vice president of retail at The Beer Store.
“In an evolving marketplace, we are actively reviewing our recycling and retail presence to best serve customers.”
The new stores will sell beer in addition to accepting empty containers.
One will be located at 3078 Don Mills Road in North York. That’s south of Finch Avenue East.
The other will be at 1089 Kingston Road in Scarborough, which is near Victoria Park Avenue.
The Beer Store is working to get customers to return their empties, even launching a campaign that will see ads run through the summer.
With the numerous Beer Store closures that have happened, there are less places for customers to return their empty containers.
The Beer Store said the new Toronto locations will join 17 empty container detailers that started accepting empties in 2026.
You can see where you can return empties on the Beer Store’s website.
A specific opening date for the new Toronto stores wasn’t provided, but the company said they “will be open just in time for Canada Day,” which is now about three weeks away.
