Here’s where Mississauga and Brampton’s COVID-19 hotspots are this week

Peel Region has identified a number of areas with higher COVID-19 rates in Mississauga and Brampton for the week of Nov. 21 to 27.

The region’s interactive map shows some areas reporting rates of up to 136.5 per 100,000 (area of 9th Line from Thomas St. to Erin Centre Blvd in Mississauga).

According to Peel, the map shows a crude incidence rate defined as the total number of new cases within a specific time period divided by the total population and multiplied by 100,000.

For the week of Nov. 21 to 27, 171 new cases were reported in Mississauga and 136 were reported in Brampton.

325 cases were reported for the region overall.

For all Ontario residents, the overall percent positivity among those tested for COVID-19 during the week of Nov. 21 was 2.9%, up 0.4% from the previous week, according to Toronto-based research group ICES.

23,913,372 vaccine doses have been administered in Ontario to date, with 90.0% of Ontarians 12+ having received one dose and 87.3% having received two doses.
