Here’s when Canadians will receive benefit cheques in the mail for the rest of the year

With the cost of living rising and many people struggling to make ends meet, some Canadians might be relieved to hear that benefit cheques will be arriving throughout the year, with lower- and modest-income residents receiving more support. 

Residents in regions affected by wildfires could experience delays in receiving their cheques and are encouraged to visit Canada Post for delivery updates. 

Here’s a look at benefit cheques that some Canadians are entitled to and when they’ll be arriving: 


Canada Child Benefit 

This tax-free monthly benefit is administered by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA). It’s a payment made to eligible families to help with the cost of raising children under 18 years of age. The CCB may include the child disability benefit and related provincial and territorial programs.

  • Nov. 20, 2023
  • Dec. 13, 2023

Goods and Services Tax /Harmonized Sales Tax (GST/HST) credit

This credit is a tax-free quarterly payment that helps low- and modest-income households offset the GST or HST they pay. Residents are automatically considered for the GST/HST credit when they file their taxes.

The most recent cheque was sent out on Oct. 5, 2023. Anyone eligible for the benefit who has not yet received it is encouraged to wait 10 business days before contacting the government. 


Ontario Trillium Benefit

This benefit helps low- to moderate-income Ontario residents pay for energy costs, sales and property tax.

Climate Action Incentive Payment

The CAIP is a tax-free amount paid to help individuals and families offset the cost of the federal government’s pollution pricing

This benefit provides support to lower-income households.
