A massive new grocery store has been announced and will open soon in Mississauga.

The former home of Highland Farms, a long-standing grocery store in the heart of the city, is undergoing a major refresh and will soon welcome shoppers excited to peruse a diverse range of foods and groceries. The spacious building at 50 Matheson Blvd E, located in the bustling Eglinton and Hurontario area, has been acquired by JDass Corp, a Canadian family-owned and independent company established in 1986.

The facility is currently being redeveloped into a full-scale supermarket that will carry a wide selection of products tailored to the city’s diverse, multicultural communities.

The exciting new project will mark JDass Corp’s second foray into the supermarket world and follows the opening of the company’s Food World Supermarket in Toronto. The company is also deeply familiar with Mississauga, as one of their many notable projects is the city’s own Mississauga Convention Centre. Beyond that, JDass Corp also operates Dass Metal, Dass Rebar, Quick Scrap Metal, Shanty Bay Golf Club, The Play Scape, Skye Hotel & Residences, Meadowvale Apartment Hotel, and more.

The centrally located property spans 176,000 square feet across 13.88 acres and can be accessed from five points along several municipal roads. With nearly 700 feet of exposure along Hurontario Street, the supermarket is highly visible and convenient for thousands of residents who call the dense, bustling neighbourhood home. The store, built with diversity, accessibility and convenience in mind, is also expected to welcome shoppers from all over the region, including residents, commuters and multicultural families from nearby Brampton.

Beyond boasting a location along the corridor that connects Mississauga and Brampton, the store is also close to highways and transit and sits right along the line of the upcoming Hurontario LRT line, a north-south train that’s quickly taking shape in one of Ontario’s fastest-growing areas.

Once it opens its doors this spring, the supermarket is expected to be one of the largest in Mississauga and will take great pride in serving the city’s vibrant population, offering a wide range of products tailored to the needs of various communities. The company is also known for giving back through the JDass Charitable Trust, which supports local initiatives and the communities it serves.

Beyond providing an exceptional array of food and grocery products to shoppers, the supermarket is expected to be a significant investment in Mississauga’s economy through job creation, local investment, and local partnerships.

JDass Corp is currently hiring for a wide range of roles at the Mississauga location, which will support both operational growth and local employment. Qualified candidates are encouraged to apply by submitting an application to [email protected].

Headquartered in Vaughan, JDass Corp is a proudly Canadian investment and operations company with nearly 40 years of experience across multiple industries: food, real estate, metals, construction, retail, finance, hospitality, entertainment, oil, gas, and fuel.

This commitment to progress is carried forward into the present day by the second generation of the Dass family, including Managing Directors Navjot Dass and Ram Dass, and COO Preet Dass.
