Here’s What’s Happening with the OCS Backlog in Mississauga
If you've been impatiently awaiting an order from the OCS, you are not alone—and your wait is almost over.
The Ontario Cannabis Store (OCS) says it has cleared its order backlog and is committed to "continued improvement."
"Since October 17, the OCS has received over 220,000 customer orders and has worked 24/7 to get orders out to customers," the OCS said in a recent news release.
"While initially faced with a backlog in fulfilling and shipping orders to customers, the OCS has now caught up on all orders received and is focused on continuing to improve its retail experience for customers."
The OCS has had a rough few weeks.
The provincially-run company says it was faced with a backlog of orders that were delayed due to labelling issues with several products it received from licensed producers.
Delays were also caused by rotating Canada Post strikes.
"The OCS appreciates customers' patience over the last few weeks as we worked collaboratively with licensed producers to resolve the initial challenges of launching a new business," said Patrick Ford, President and Chief Executive Officer of the OCS.
"Now with the backlog of orders cleared, we are moving forward and returning to our 1-3 business day delivery expectation. Our top priority is to continuously improve the customer retail experience for the many Ontarians that are buying safe, quality recreational cannabis products from the OCS."
While initial labelling issues have been resolved with licensed producers, ongoing rotating postal strikes may continue to delay deliveries to some customers, the OCS says.
The OCS says it's working closely with licensed producers to expand the assortment of recreational cannabis products available through OCS.ca and ensure product availability.
