Here's How You Can Get a Free Summer Drink in Mississauga
If you’re super sweaty and dehydrated then there’s a fun way to celebrate summer in Mississauga.
But it’s only for one day.
Here’s the deal:
7-Eleven Canada has announced that this year’s 7-Eleven Day comes with a few surprises.
The company will be giving away 1,500 free, small Birthday Slurpee drinks in its 590 Canadian stores - one of the largest giveaways in Canada.
July 11 (thank you, Captain Obvious) — that’s Wednesday.
“It may be our birthday, but we are giving back to our fans who support us every step of the way,” said 7-Eleven Canada VP and general manager Doug Rosencrans.
Roughly 900,000 free Slurpee drinks will be doled out — you can find a store here.
“We will name a Canadian street in honour of the iconic drink that is closely tied to our Canadian culture,” added Rosencrans.
You can check out exclusive new summer flavours available only at 7-Eleven stores across the country, such as Maynards Sour Patch Kids Watermelon, Dole Raspberry Lemon, and Crush Gummie Bear Slurpee.
For the 19th straight year, Manitoba was named the Slurpee Capital of the World.
For realsies — the City of Winnipeg even designated a block of a street in Winnipeg with the honourary name of Slurpee Way. For two years, a stretch of Rouge Rd., from Portage Ave. to Byrd Ave., will be dubbed in honour of the beverage.
The first slurpee poured in Canada was in Calgary back in 1969.
Who invented the drink?
Omar Knedlik, a Kansas hamburger stand owner.
God bless ‘Murica.
