Here’s how Brampton residents can get paid to help run the municipal election

Brampton residents looking to earn some extra money this fall can now apply to work during the city’s 2026 municipal election.

The City of Brampton is recruiting election workers for a variety of paid positions to help run voting locations on election day, which takes place Monday, Oct. 26.

A range of roles are available, including Location Supervisor, Assistant Location Supervisor, Deputy Returning Officer, Tabulator Attendant, Accessible Voting Unit Attendant and Greeter.

Election workers play an important role in ensuring the voting process runs smoothly. Depending on the position, responsibilities include assisting voters, supporting accessible voting, issuing ballots, processing voter registrations and ensuring election procedures are properly followed throughout the day.

Applicants can submit their applications online by providing their contact information, selecting their preferred position or positions and indicating their availability.

Successful candidates must complete mandatory in-person training before working the election.

Training sessions, which are paid, will begin in September and continue through October. The length of the sessions varies depending on the role. Location Supervisors, Assistant Location Supervisors and Deputy Returning Officers will attend a three-hour session, while Tabulator Attendants and Accessible Voting Unit Attendants will complete two hours of training. Greeters are required to attend a one-hour session.

The City says workers will put that training into practice on voting day by helping residents cast their ballots and ensuring polling places operate efficiently and in accordance with election rules.

Workers will receive payment for their election duties approximately eight weeks after the Oct. 26 municipal election.

Municipal elections determine who will serve as mayor and as members of city council for the next four-year term, making election workers a key part of the democratic process.
