Heavy rain in Mississauga could lead to local flooding

Mississauga officials are urging people to stay away from rivers and streams in the next 24 hours or so as heavy rainfall could lead to dangerous conditions and flooding in those areas.
Residents are also being asked to do their part to ensure catch basins are cleared of any debris, but only if they can do so safely.
Keeping the catch basins on roads clear of debris will allow the area to drain properly and reduce the risk of local flooding, City of Mississauga officials say.
The warnings and advice come as Mississauga is expecting significant rainfall (up to 20mm), which could lead to pooling on roads, and strong easterly winds with gusts up to 70 km/h, according to Environment Canada.
The rain and winds are expected late this afternoon (March 23) and into this evening.
With spring comes showers☔ Heavy rainfall is expected today & into this evening ⛈️
