Police say they have a suspect in custody in connection with a bank robbery in Mississauga’s east end this afternoon.
Peel Regional Police are releasing very few details, saying initially via social media only that a “heavy police presence” in the area of Cawthra and Burnhamthorpe roads at about 2 p.m. has led to the arrest of a suspect.
Police didn’t say anything else about the nature of the robbery, including who or what may have been targeted or if any weapons were involved.
However, a police spokesperson said in an email to insauga.com that the incident in question was “a note pass bank robbery.”
The bank was not identified, but the spokesperson added that “the suspect was quickly located and arrested without incident.”
There were no injuries and no threat to the public involved, police added.
