Heavy police presence in Mississauga neighbourhood

A heavy police presence has been reported in a neighbourhood in southeast Mississauga this morning and motorists and others are being told to avoid the area.

Peel Regional Police said in a post to social media they responded to a call in the Orchard Road/Lakeshore Road East area just after 8:30 a.m. and they were still on the scene nearly two hours later.

Police ask people to avoid the area on Lakeshore Road East, between Dixie Road and Haig Boulevard, until the situation has been resolved.

There’s no indication from police that area residents face any threat.
