Heaters, mirrors and vacuums recalled this week from stores in Ontario

Another week and another list of items are being recalled from Ontario stores.

This week residents are advised to check their homes for the following products that may cause burns and lacerations.


Mastercraft, Profusion Heat, Prestige, and Matrix Portable Garage Heaters

The Mastercraft, Profusion Heat, Prestige, and Matrix 4800W 240V portable garage heaters are being recalled.

The affected products can be identified by Intertek (ETL) certification file number labeled 3153457.

The model number, certification file number, and manufacturing date in the MM-YY format can be found at the back of the heater.

The issue with the product is that it can overheat.

Risks: Poses a fire hazard.

What you should do: Discontinue using the recalled product and return it to the place of purchase for a store credit or exchange for a replacement unit.

The company reported that 68,000 units of the affected products were sold in Canada between July 2014 to April 2019 at Canadian Tire and various other retailers.

As of Aug. 17 the company has received 10 reports of the product overheating, with 3 incidents of the product catching fire and damaging property in Canada. No injuries were reported.

The mirrors are available in three trim colours which are: black, silver and gold.

The following model numbers and sizes are affected by the recall:

  •  DM015BK-2436 —24 inches (60.96 centimetres) x 36 inches (91.44 centimetres)
  • DM015BK-223—22 inches (55.88 centimetres) x 30 inches (76.2 centimetres)
  • DM015CS-2230—22 inches (55.88 centimetres) x 30 inches (76.2 centimetres)
  • DM015G-2230—22 inches (55.88 centimetres) x 30 inches (76.2 centimetres)

The issue with the product is the adhesive may fail, causing the mirror to detach from the frame and shatter.

Risks: Potential laceration hazard.

What you should do: Individuals are asked to review the label pasted on the backboard of the mirror and  locate the production date. If the production date reads August 2019 or September 2019, consumers are advised to stop using the recalled accent mirrors and contact the company for a refund.

The company reported that 80 units of the affected products were sold in Canada between November 2019 to August 2020.

As of August 10, 2023, the company has received 3 reports of mirrors detaching from their frames in Canada, and no reports of injuries.


Aiper Elite Pro GS100 robotic swimming pool vacuum cleaner

Aiper Elite Pro - Topview

A single model (GS100) of the pool vacuum cleaner, is under recall.

The product features a built-in pump module and operates using a lithium-ion battery.

It comes in a dark grey color and bears the “Aiper” brand name on its top front.

The model name is also indicated on the label at the bottom.

Elite Pro’s battery can overheat if the charging cord is incorrectly inserted into the charging socket.

Risks: Poses thermal burns or fire hazard.

What you should do: Stop using the product and return it to the store for a free replacement.

The company reported that 49 units of the affected products were sold in Canada between January 2023 to May 2023.

As of July 14, 2023, the company has received no reports of incidents or injuries in Canada.
