Summer has officially arrived and so has the blistering heat in Oakville, Burlington, Milton and Halton Hills.

Environment Canada has issued a heat warning for Halton Region for Tuesday through Wednesday.

Temperatures in the area are expected to reach the low to possibly mid-30s (degrees Celsius) over the next couple of days.

Night time won’t offer much in relief for the blazing heat as temperature are expected to be in the low 20s (degree Celsius).

There is some relief on the way though as cooler air is expected to arrive by Thursday.

Residents are reminded that the hot and humid air can also bring deteriorating air quality and can result in the Air Quality Health Index approaching the high risk category.

The risks are greater for young children, pregnant women, older adults, people with chronic illnesses and people working or exercising outdoors.
You should never leave people or your pets inside a parked vehicle. Outside workers are also reminded to take regularly scheduled breaks in a cool place.

During heat warnings it’s also best you eat cool, light meals.
