Heat warning issued for Hamilton. Here’s where you can go to cool down

The Medical Officer of Health for the City of Hamilton initiated a Heat Warning for Monday (July 5) as hot and humid temperatures are in the forecast for the first two days of the week.

“Heat Warnings stay in effect until they are cancelled or escalated to an Extended Heat Warning,” a City press release issued Sunday said.

“Maximum daytime temperatures from 31 to 34 degrees Celsius are expected with humidex values near 40.”

Overnight, temperatures are expected to fall to only 21 to 23 degrees, providing little relief from the heat.

Starting Tuesday evening, however, a cold front is expected to move in and bring showers and thunderstorms bringing an end to the heat and humidity.

The City of Hamilton and community agencies are responding to the heat by offering “cool places” while the warning remains in effect.
