Heat warning in effect for Burlington, Oakville, Milton, and Halton Hills

Environment Canada has issued a heat warning for Oakville, Burlington, Milton, Halton Hills, and other parts of southern Ontario.
Beginning Monday (July 5) and lasting until Tuesday evening, temperatures are expected to climb to between 31 and 34 degrees Celsius, and they could reach close to 40 degrees with the humidex.
Extreme heat affects everyone, but it can have a greater impact on young children, pregnant women, older adults, people with chronic illnesses and people working or exercising outdoors.
Additionally, hot and humid air can also bring deteriorating air quality and can cause the Air Quality Health Index to approach the high-risk category.
Signs of heat-related illnesses include swelling, rash, cramps, fainting, heat exhaustion, heatstroke, and the worsening of some health conditions.
Residents are reminded not to leave pets or people in cars unattended.
