A heat warning is in effect for Brampton and Mississauga.

According to Environment Canada, daytime highs of 31 to 32 degrees with overnight lows near 20 are expected in Brampton, Vaughan, Richmond Hill, Markham, and inland areas of Mississauga and Toronto on Saturday, June 5 and Sunday, June 6.

The heat could persist into next week.

Environment Canada says relief from the heat may be found near Lake Ontario.

Air quality could become poor as a result of the heat.

While hot weather affects everyone, Environment Canada says the risks are greater for young children, pregnant women, older adults, people with chronic illnesses and people working or exercising outdoors.

Residents are advised to seek cooler places and to never leave pets or children unattended in hot vehicles.
