Despite a brief reprieve, it’s going to be a hot one in Brampton and Mississauga this weekend.

According to Environment Canada, hot and humid conditions will return to both cities on Saturday, Aug. 28 and last through Sunday, Aug. 29.

The weather agency says temperatures will hit 29 to 31 degrees, with humidex values of 37 to 42. On Saturday night, temperatures will drop to 20 to 23 degrees.

Environment Canada says hot and humid air can also bring deteriorating air quality.

While extreme heat affects everyone, the risks are greater for young children, pregnant women, older adults, people with chronic illnesses and people working or exercising outdoors.

Residents are reminded to monitor themselves for heat-related illnesses and refrain from leaving children, pets and vulnerable people in hot, stationary vehicles for any length of time.
