A community tree planting that was scheduled for a Burlington park this week has been cancelled because of a heat warning.

The event was to take place this Wednesday, June 19 at Bromley Park on Maureen Court.

The goal was to plant 250 trees in the park with the help of volunteers who were invited to attend.

Instead, the event has been postponed and will be held Sept. 26 as part of National Forest Week.

The project will be carried out by the City of Burlington and the environmental group BurlingtonGreen, the small native trees will be planted throughout the park to help expand the urban canopy.

Advanced registration is required. Participants can sign up at BurlingtonGreen.org.
