People arriving at Pearson Airport today may face delays due to the heat.

A heat warning has been issued today for much of southern Ontario. With the humidity, it could feel like 35 to 39 C today (July 8).

The heat presents a potential health hazard for anyone working outside including Pearson Airport staff.

“In this heat, our safety focus is to provide adequate breaks to allow outdoor workers to stay cool,” Pearson Airport said in a post on X. “This means your plane could take longer than expected to reach the gate, or your luggage processing could be delayed.”

There are also possible disruptions due to Hurricane Beryl as it makes landfall in Texas, U.S.

The storm could cause significant flooding in the Houston area and beyond, according to U.S. news reports.

Airlines have cancelled flights to areas of Texas.

Flights to Mexico and Jamaica have returned to normal after last week’s disruption as Hurricane Beryl tore through the area.

As always it is a good idea to check flight status here for departures and arrivals.
