Heart Health clinics return to Pickering and Oshawa malls

Heart health clinics return to Durham Region this month for the first time since the pandemic, with the first clinic at the Pickering Town Centre Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The Central East Regional Cardiovascular Rehab Program is putting its whole heart into Heart Month events this year, as they bring back their popular community clinics to local malls in Durham and Scarborough, with residents getting a chance to get a checkup on their heart health. Staff will also be performing blood pressure tests, providing consultations on heart disease risk factors, and offering education on improving heart health.
They will also be holding virtual education sessions, featuring cardiologists and cardiovascular experts, exercise therapists, nurse practitioners, and a dietitian speaking on several heart health topics, from living a heart-healthy lifestyle to finding out if you are at risk for heart disease.
The next event following Pickering will be at the Scarborough Town Centre on February 18 (10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.) followed by a visit to the Oshawa Centre on February 25 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Central East Regional Cardiovascular Rehab Program staff will also host virtual heart health events on three Mondays this month, including February 6 (Women and Heart Disease 6:30 – 7 p.m.), February 13 (Heart Healthy Panel Discussion 6:30 – 7:30 p.m.) and February 27 (Diabetes and Cardiovascular Disease 6:30 to 7 p.m.).

The Central East Regional Cardiovascular Rehab Program is one of North America’s largest networks, serving more than 4,000 patients every year. The program is led by Scarborough Health Network (SHN) in partnership with Ontario Health East, as well as municipalities, community centres, and other hospitals, including Lakeridge Health.
