A Mississauga man accused of assaulting a police officer during a Toronto demonstration also appeared in a Harry Potter production.

Toronto Police said they responded to the demonstration in the Gerrard Street East and Parliament Street area on Saturday, March 30 around 5:20 p.m.

During the demonstration a man allegedly assaulted an officer and then fled the area, police said.

Organizers of the pro-Palestinian rally told reporters there have been dramatic escalations in the use of force from the Toronto Police and called for an independent investigation.

Police were searching for a man described as being 25 to 35 years old and clean-shaven. Toronto Police released photos of the suspect.

On Wednesday, April 3, Kyle Orzech, 34, of Mississauga, turned himself in to police.

Orzech was charged with assaulting a peace officer.

The charges have not been tested in court.

He is scheduled to appear in court at the Ontario Court of Justice, 10 Armoury Street, on Friday, May 10.

Kyle Orzech appeared in the Ed Mirvesh Theatre production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child in 2022, according to stories on Broadway World and Playbill.

There have been two other Mississauga residents charged in different protests recently.

A Mississauga man was charged after a protest on an overpass near Avenue Road in January this year. And another Mississauga man was charged in connection with a public demonstration last November in which a large group of people blocked traffic on the busy Gardiner Expressway in Toronto.
