Things will be hopping this weekend at the Ottawa Market as they celebrate their grand opening in style.

The Ottawa Market opened its doors to the public several weeks ago but this weekend they will be hosting several special vendors and two live music events to mark the special occasion of its grand opening.

In the few short weeks that the shop has been open, its become an important community hub in Hamilton’s east end, making a home for one of three community fridges in Hamilton and establishing itself as a safe place for all to shop local.

On Friday (Sept. 17), the market will close a little early to make room for a set from DJ Donna Lovejoy, who is also an Ottawa Market employee. A performance by Johan & Friends is also scheduled at the market for Saturday night.

There will be wine and beverages available for purchase, as well as snacks from the market kitchen.

The market’s front, back and garage doors will be open all night allowing ample ventilation and fresh air into the space, according to event organizers.

Throughout the day on Saturday, the Ottawa Market will also welcome some local vendors who will be serving up ice cream, doughnuts and more.
