Hamilton Public Health Services is sending its new mobile community testing site to areas of the city that have among the highest COVID-19 infection rates, as well as the lowest number of vaccinated individuals.

The unit will be set up at Dominic Agostino Riverdale Community Centre in the northeast part of the city on Oct. 18 and 25, as well as Nov. 1 and 8 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

No appointments are needed, however, residents are asked to bring a piece of ID to confirm their identity.

Dominic Agostino Riverdale Community Centre is located at 150 Violet Dr, where 66.2 per cent of residents in the area are fully vaccinated and there is a 4.4 per cent incident rate.

Public health says the new testing site will target areas of the city identified as having low testing rates, high incidence rates, and barriers to accessing current COVID-19 Assessment Centres.

Additional mobile testing sites, including a location to serve the downtown core, are being planned and will be implemented and announced in priority neighbourhoods in the coming days.

Services will be delivered by Hamilton Paramedic Services in partnership with the Hamilton COVID-19 Response Table and HSR.
