McMaster ranked 90th in the world, up two places from 2021, in the Shanghai Ranking’s 2022 Academic Ranking of World Universities.
McMaster’s clinical medicine program ranked 47th worldwide and 2nd in Canada.
Civil engineering, public health, library and information science, metallurgical engineering, and transportation science and engineering are among the top 100 such programs in the world in the Global Ranking of Academic Subjects.
Several other programs ranked among the top 200 in the world.
More than 5,000 universities are ranked in 54 subjects across natural sciences, engineering, life sciences, medical sciences, and social sciences.
For back-to-back years, the University of Toronto was ranked 22nd, making it the top Canadian post-secondary institution. The University of British Columbia (44th), McGill University (73rd), and the University of Alberta (92nd) also cracked the top 100.
Eight of the top 10 universities are American, with Harvard, Stanford, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology rounding out the top three.
Two United Kingdom universities, Cambridge (4th) and Oxford (7th), made the top 10.
