Hamilton’s large-scale vaccination clinic at FirstOntario Centre officially opens

The large-scale COVID-19 vaccination clinic at FirstOntario Centre opened its doors Monday (Mar. 22) as residents aged 75 and older can now schedule an appointment.
On its first day of easing into operation, Public Health says 700 appointments were booked. When fully staffed, up to 3,000 vaccines can be administered per day inside 101 York Blvd.
“We are excited to be adding to our capacity to provide vaccinations to our community,” said Dr. Elizabeth Richardson, Medical Officer of Health.
“With the Province expecting additional supply as we move through spring and summer, and as eligible populations are also expanded in Phase Two of the Provincial Prioritization Framework, we and our health care partners will continue to open up new clinics and modalities for delivering COVID-19 vaccinations to members of our community and stop the spread of COVID-19.”
Parking will be validated for anyone with an appointment if they park at 28 York Blvd, lot 68, and bring their ticket inside in the clinic.

Also Monday, select pharmacies in Hamilton will offer the Oxford-AstraZeneca shot by appointment to those 60 and older. They previously only offered that shot to residents aged 60-64.
The new 60,000 square foot clinic expands the local vaccination program and will be managed by Hamilton Public Health Services in partnership with St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton, Hamilton Health Sciences, Primary Care Physicians, and Hamilton Paramedic Services.
The FirstOntario Centre vaccination centre will be open seven days a week, from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
