Hamiltonian charged after catalytic converter stolen from car in Simcoe: OPP

A Hamilton resident has been charged after a catalytic converter was stolen from a car in Simcoe earlier this week.

According to the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment, one of their officers was on patrol in Simcoe early Tuesday morning (March 1) when they stopped to investigate a suspicious incident at a local business.

A person was seen near the business on Norfolk Street South and a subsequent investigation found that person to allegedly be in possession of a catalytic converter taken from a car parked nearby.

The officer arrested 43-year-old Jody Gordon Sim of Hamilton without incident at the scene. Sim has been charged with theft under $5,000.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice located in Simcoe at a later date.
