A 49- year- old Hamilton woman has been charged in connection to a fatal motor vehicle collision that took place on Upper James Street back in April this year.

Hamilton police say a Yamaha motorcycle was travelling northbound on Upper James Street and approaching Twenty Road when it became involved in a collision with a southbound Toyota SUV.

The passenger was thrown from the motorcycle and later pronounced dead in hospital. The motorcycle driver was transported to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the SUV was treated in hospital before being released.

Police later laid charges against a male driving a third vehicle who allegedly fled the scene of the crash.

According to Hamilton Police, the accused has been charged with careless driving causing bodily harm or death, under the Highway Traffic Act. The woman is set to appear in court in June.

Police are seeking help from the public in identifying a third vehicle reportedly involved in the collision. Anyone with information should contact the Collision Reconstruction Unit at 905-546-4753.
