Hamilton, Waterdown power outage affects 3,300 homes and businesses

A power outage affected more than 3,300 homes and businesses in the Waterdown and Flamborough communities in Hamilton on Friday evening (July 23).

Alectra Utilties said the outage is in the area of Dundas Street East to Parkside Drive and from Hamilton Street North to Kerns Road in Flamborough. A total of 3,319 homes and businesses are affected. The expected time of resumption is 8 p.m.

During an outage, all traffic stops where the lights are non-operational are to be treated as a four-way stop.

UPDATE, 8:30 p.m.: The outage is now in area of Dundas Street East to Concession 5 Road East and from Hamilton Street North to Evans Road of Flamborough. More than 2,100 homes and businesses are affected, and the expected time of resumption is 11:30 p.m.

UPDATE, 8:30 p.m.: As of 11:30 p.m., all but eight homes and businesses had their power back. Their ETR is 1 a.m.
