Hamilton vehicle stop leads to seizure of drugs and firearm

Police say a vehicle stop has led to the arrest of three adult males from Hamilton and the seizure of a firearm, ammunition, cash and illicit drugs.
According to police, on Tuesday, December 8, 2020, shortly after 7:30 p.m., a grey Hyundai Sonata was observed in the area of Barton Street East and East Avenue North.
Police say there was a strong odour of fresh cannabis coming from the vehicle.
Through further investigation, police determined the males were in possession of a firearm, illicit drugs, a large sum of Canadian currency and other evidence to support the trafficking of drugs.
As a result, police seized items including crack cocaine (116.7g), fentanyl (17.3g), oxycodone (percodan), cannabis (marihuana), scales, canadian currency ($9,500), a firearm (semi-automatic 9mm CZ P10C), ammunition and cell phones.
Charges issued include unauthorized possession of firearm, knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm, occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was firearm, prohibited firearm – loaded/unloaded, possess firearm with altered serial number, careless use, carry, transport, storage of firearm, possession for the purpose – cocaine, possession for the purpose – fentanyl, possession for the purpose – oxycodone and proceeds of crime over $5000.
